MATCH PREVIEW | YORK CITY

The Bees make the long journey to Yorkshire tomorrow afternoon to face fellow promotion hopefuls York City at the LNER Community Stadium.

Barnet FC:

The Bees’s seven game winning run game to an end at the ARMCO Arena on Saturday as Solihull Moors just edged Brennan’s side in a high scoring game. It was the Bees who took an early lead in this contest through Nicke Kabamba. The hosts turned the game on its head in a matter of minutes when Stevens headed in on the 36th minute before Stevenson made it 2-1 just two minutes later. The Solihull charge continued into the second half when Sam Bowen made it three before James Gale slotted home in the 75th minute to make it four. Barnet needed a miracle but a late surge from Zak Brunt who grabbed one back in the dying minutes before Kabamba got his second of the afternoon, but this left the Bees with no time to grab a dramatic equaliser.

York City

Tomorrow’s hosts have enjoyed a very positive season so far having picked up eight wins from 14 games, drawing five and losing just once. They currently sit third in the Vanarama National League, just one point off the Bees at the summit. In their last outing they beat Ebbsfleet at the LNER in dominating fashion. Ollie Pearce opened the scoring before half time before three second half goals from Tyrese Sinclair, Luca Thomas and Ollie Pearce wrapped up another three points for the Minstermen.

York City last five results:

York City 4-0 Ebbsfleet United

Biggleswade 1-3 York City

Woking 1-1 York City

York City 0-0 Eastleigh

Solihull Moors 0-3 York City

In the opposite dugout:

York City are currently managed by former Worthing manager Adam Hinshelwood who has been with the Minstermen since the end of February this year when he took over from the departing Neal Ardley. Since then, he has guided his side to safety last season in the National League by just a single point and now has his red and white side high flying at the top end of the table, fighting for promotion.

Ones to watch:

Ollie Pearce and veteran striker Lennell John-Lewis are both joint top scorers for the Yorkshire side this season having both scoring five in the National League from 14 and 13 games respectively.

Last time these two sides met:

The last time these two sides met was in February this year when two Callum Stead goals put York to the sword at the Hive, registering a 2-0 win over the Minstermen. This was to be then York boss Neal Ardley’s last game in charge as he was dismissed just two days later.
