MATCH PREVIEW | WEALDSTONE

The Bees make the short trip west to face Wealdstone in the Vanarama National League tomorrow afternoon (5:30pm kick-off) with game being broadcasted live on DAZN.

Barnet FC:

In our last league outing it was Braintree Town who were next to be beaten at the Hive Stadium. Braintree coming the fifth team out of five games to be beat on the Bees home turf. The visitors took an early lead in this one when former Barnet man John Akinde powered his way through on goal before placing the ball into the net in the opening minute. The lead for the Iron didn’t last long when Mark Shelton levelled the game up when he got on the end of a cross before slotting the ball in. In a quick turnaround the Bees scored again shortly after when Callum Stead jumped highest to head the ball past Covolan. The three points were wrapped up when Ryan Glover’s cross was turned into his own net by George Langston in the second half.

Wealdstone FC

This weekends hosts have had a difficult time so far this season after only picking up one win so far, that being against fellow strugglers AFC Fylde. The Stones currently sit second to bottom and without a win in five league games. In their last fixture however they picked up an impressive draw at promotion chasers Forest Green Rovers. Rovers took a very early two goal lead in this contest when goals from Christian Doidge and Adam May put the hosts two up inside 6 minutes. Wealdstone clawed one back on the stroke of half time through Callum McFarlane. McFarlane also popped up I the 89th minute to rescue an impressive away point for Wealdstone.

Wealdstone last five results:

Forest Green Rovers 2-2 Wealdstone

Woking 1-0 Wealdstone

Wealdstone 0-2 York City

Solihull Moors 1-1 Wealdstone

Wealdstone 1-0 AFC Fylde

In the opposite dugout:

Wealdstone are currently managed by former Portsmouth, Bolton, West Ham United and Burnley player Matthew Taylor who has overseen the Stones since May this year after former manager Stuart Maynard departed for League Two side Notts County earlier in the season. Taylors only other managerial jobs have come at Walsall and Shrewsbury Town where he left in January this year.

Ones to watch:

Young Fulham loanee Callum McFarlane will be one to look out for tomorrow night. Having only played two games for Wealdstone, he has scored two already. Both of those coming at Forest Green Rovers last weekend in a score draw.

Last time these two sides met:

The last time these two sides met ended in dramatic fashion back in February this year. The Bees took the lead in the first half at The Hive through Callum Stead. The game remained without a goal until the 100th minute when Corie Andrews popped up with a last grasp equaliser to rescue a point for the visitors.
