York secured the three points in a close encounter at the LNER Stadium with two second half goals.

 

The first shot of the game fell to the hosts when Alex Hunt’s shot from outside the box was well parried behind by Nick Hayes.

 

Bailey Hobson was the first man in purple to try his luck at goal for the Bees. His effort from outside the box flew high and wide of the goal.

 

In a closely thought battle at the LNER, York had the best chance of the game on the 30th minute when a misplaced pass from the Bees was intercepted by Ollie Pearce who rounded past Nick Hayes but dragged his shot wide from a tight angle.

 

Ryan Glover was looking to cause problems for the Minstermen and did just that when his cross from the right-hand side was met by Bailey Hobson inside the box who was on hand to finish the ball home to give the Bees the lead.

 

As the game sprung into life the Bees come so close to making it two as the Hobson, Glover link up continued when Hobson’s shot was parried into the path of Ryan Glover, but his rebounded shot flew over the bar.

 

Against the run of play York City drew level when a cross from the right-hand side was tapped in by Marvin Armstrong, putting the game level.

 

Half Time 1-1

 

Joe Felix was the first man to test a keeper in the second half when his shot from the edge of the box was saved by the diving Hayes.

 

Zak Brunt was next to test the palms of Harrison Male but his shot on the half-volley was saved by the York number one.

The hosts took the lead in superb fashion when Alex Hunt buried a free kick from 30 yards right into the top corner, leaving Hayes with no chance.

 

York added a third not long after when Ollie Pearce found himself charging down on goal before slotting the ball low past Hayes to further the lead.
