MATCH REPORT | SWINDON TOWN 0-2 BARNET FC

The substitutions made all the difference tonight as late goals from Dennis Adineran and Emmanuel Osadebe secured the Bees their first three points of the season.

Barnet had to withstand some early pressure from the hosts, with Cieran Slicker being called into action to keep Swindon at bay in the opening moments.

One of Barnet’s first chances of the evening saw Slicker play a ball into Callum Stead who was through on goal, but a Robins’ defender was able to get the ball out of the feet of the Barnet forward.

The Bees put plenty of pressure on Swindon in the first half, with Anthony Hartigan’s corners proving a threat, but the Bees were still unable to find a way through, despite Ollie Hawkins almost connecting with the ball and firing home.

Stead was through on goal again and this time had a clearer line of sight, but Connor Ripley in the hosts’ net made an excellent point blank save to deny the Bees the opportunity to take the lead with over half an hour gone.

Half-Time: Swindon Town 0-2 Barnet FC

Dean Brennan’s side came out hungry in the second half, and it was Stead again who struck goalwards shortly after the restart, but it was comfortably into the hands of Ripley.

The second half continued with both sides having to withstand moments of pressure, until Brennan made his substitutions with 15 minutes to play.

Emmanuel Osadebe was the first impact sub to make a difference, aiming a left-footed volley into the back of the net to give the visitors late hope for their first points of the campaign.

As the clock ticked towards 90 minutes, ten minutes were shown on the fourth official’s board and the roar around the Nigel Eady County Ground from the Swindon Fans was enough for the white and purple shirts to turn it up a gear.

Barnet doubled their lead shortly before the referee blew his final whistle. This time, it was a combination of substitutes Lee Ndlovu and Dennis Adineran, with the latter firing into the bottom left corner.

The result on the road sees Dean Brennan’s side take their first three points of the season.
