MATCH REPORT | SOUTHEND UNITED 0-3 BARNET FC | NATIONAL LEAGUE

The Bees made it 12 unbeaten in the Vanarama National League with an emphatic victory over Southend United at Roots Hall!

The Bees registered the first shot of the game when Callum Stead’s effort from inside the box was blocked from close range by the hosts.

Southend responded with a shot of their own, this time from outside the penalty area. Evans got down low and was equal to the effort.

On the quarter hour mark a Southend corner from Oli Coker was headed on by captain Nathan Ralph but Ryan Glover was there to scramble the ball away.

The 27th minute was the lucky time for the Bees as Anthony Hartigan’s corner was met by the rising Danny Collinge who nodded the ball past Nathan Harness to give the Bees the lead.

10 minutes later and the lead was doubled, some great football from the Bees allowed Myles Kenlock to cross the ball into the path of Mark Shelton before the ball was deflected on and into the back of the net.

Half Time 0-2

In a quiet opening period in the second half, it was Barnet who had the first clear-cut chance. Collinge found himself with space to shoot but Southend defended the ball well before clearing away.

With 25 minutes to go Southend thought they’d been handed a lifeline when the ball was headed into the back of the net. The referee blew for a foul on Owen Evans as the scores remained the same.

An unlikely player to grab a brace was Danny Collinge as once again he rose highest from a Zak Brunt corner to head the ball past Harness for the second time in the afternoon.

There were to be no late chances for either side as Barnet moved back to second in the National League!
