The Bees played out a score draw at Eastleigh in a game of two half’s that saw Stead grab the equaliser in the second half.
The first chance of the game came to the Bees when Danny Collinge fed the ball through on goal looking for Ryan Glover, but Joe McDonnell raced off his line to see the ball behind for a goal-kick.
Anthony Hartigan swung in a corner which was headed into the path of Billy Clifford who took a shot on from the edge of the box which was well blocked by the Eastleigh defence before being cleared away.
Eastleigh’s first chance came after quarter of an hour when a cross swung-in from a free-kick fell kindly to Ludwig Francillette who looked to shoot from close range, but the linesman had his flag up for offside.
The hosts were looking to build on that momentum and did just that 3 minutes later when a counterattack down the right-hand side allowed Richard Brindley to cross the ball perfectly to the boot of Tyreese Shade who slotted the ball past Nick Hayes.
Ben Coker was looking to get the Bees level when his right-footed shot from the edge of the box flew just inches wide of the post.
With 10 minutes to go in the first half the Bees had a glorious chance which fell to Collinge inside the Eastleigh box, but Francillette put in a fantastic block to deny the number 4’s shot.
Barnet were handed a free kick on the edge of the host’s box. Anthony Hartigan went for goal, but McDonell dived right to punch the ball away from the goal. The Barnet midfielder had another shot just minutes later from a free-kick but this one was collected by the keeper.
Half Time 1-0
Zak Brunt had the first shot of the second half, Niall Maher made himself big to put in the block to deny the Bees any chance of an equaliser.
Maher had a nervy moment when his clearance was hunted down by Callum Stead who got a connection on the ball, but it flew over the bar in the end.
Eastleigh’s first chance of the half came in the 67th minute when Shade’s cross from the left-hand side met the free head of Paul McCallum who couldn’t direct his effort goalwards.
Glover came close shortly after when he got on the end of a Ben Coker corner, his looping headed went just over the bar and onto the roof of the net.
Stead handed the Bees a deserved equaliser in the 72nd minute when he flicked on a Ryan Glover cross from the right-hand side before seeing the ball fly into the bottom corner of the net.
Eastleigh were looking for a late killer blow with 8 minutes to go but Ade Oluwo put in a fantastic tackle to deny McCallum on the break, baring down on goal.
Rhys Browne went for goal in added time but his low-driven shot rolled wide of the right-hand post.
There was to be no late drama this week as the full-time whistle blew for a 1-1 draw.
