Barnet FC advance into the first round of the Emirates FA Cup after a convincing win over National South side Chelmsford City.

 

Chelmsford registered the first chance of the game when a cross from the right-hand side was met by Jordan Greenidge in the box, but he headed wide of the post.

 

The Bees registered the first chance of note when Anthony Hartigan’s cross from a corner was met by Nik Tavares who lept the highest, but his header went just wide of the post.

 

Callum Stead was the man to break the deadlock after 25 minutes when a cross swung in from the left-hand side was headed back across goal by Nicke Kabamba into the path of Stead who bundled the ball home.

 

Barnet looked to make it two in quick succession, Stead again with the chance but his left-footed shot from inside the box rolled just wide.

 

Myles Kenlock was next to tee up Kabamba when his cross from the left-hand side met the Bees number 9, but his header was well saves by Ted Collins.

 

The Bees doubled the advantage just before half time when Kabamba’s header fed through Bailey Hobson down the right-hand side who played the cross into Callum Stead who made no mistake to grab his second of the afternoon.

 

Half Time 2-0

 

Bailey Hobson was causing problems for Chelmsford when his thunderous effort from the edge of the box rattled the crossbar.

 

Chelmsford’s best chance of the game came on the hour mark when Osman Foyo found himself baring down on goal only to be denied by Nick Hayes who did brilliantly.

 

Myles Kenlcok was next to have a go at goal, his right-footed shot from the corner iof the box skimmed the post.

 

City found themselves down to ten men when Arthur Penney was shown a straight red card for a challenge on substitute Ryan Glover.

 

Number three came on the 75th minute when Zak Brunt’s cross was reached by fellow sub-Ryan Glover at the back post who slid the ball into the net.

 

Harry Chapman was next to test Colline, but his curling shot from outside the box forced the Chelmsford man into a smart stop.

 

The game was sealed when the ball fell to Zak Brunt in the box who chipped the ball over the diving Collins to secure the win for the Bees.

 

Full time 4-0
