MATCH REPORT | BARNET FC 2-0 AFC FYLDE | NATIONAL LEAGUE

Barnet FC made it five wins in a row, six at home as another home win keeping the teams spot at the top of the table.

The Bees started the game strongly with two successive shots, Harry Chapman with the first but his effort was blocked into the path of Anthony Hartigan who fired over from outside the box.

On the 17-minute mark the visitors looked to catch the Bees on the break when Ethan Mitchell rounded Nick Hayes but his cross into the box just evaded Nick Haughton.

Zak Brunt tried his luck from just outside the box, but Ben Winterbottom was able to get down low to make the save.

Barnet looked to press late on in the half and came close to the opener when a cross from the right-hand side met the head of Ryan Glover, but his effort went just wide of the post.

The best chance of the half came in the 41st minute when Callum Stead received the ball down the left-hand side before racing into the box and shooting on his right foot, his effort struck the far post of the Fylde goal.

Half Time 0-0

The Bees came out fighting from the restart and came close when Hartigan swung in a cross from a free-kick, Oluwo and Tavares came close to getting a crucial touch on the ball but it went just wide of the post.

Glover was next to have a go at goal when the ball fell to him on the edge, but Winterbottom got down low to deny him.

It didn’t take long for substitute Nicke Kabama to make an impression as the number 9 latched onto Brunt’s ball into the box before rounding the keeper and slotting the ball home.

The opener didn’t stop the Bees from taking the foot off the gas and looked to make it two when Hartigan tried an effort from range, but Winterbottom dived right to make the stop.

With 15 minutes to go it looked to be one way traffic as Stead was next to try his luck at goal, this effort was blocked and cleared away.

Myles Kenlock came close three minutes from time when he struck at goal from the left-hand side of the box, the shot taking a slight deflection to drag it wide of the post.

The three points were sealed when Ben Coker’s cross from the left-hand side met Callum Stead in the six-yard box who slid the ball into the back of the net on the 95th minute.
