MATCH REPORT | BARNET FC 1-1 FC HALIFAX TOWN | NATIONAL LEAGUE

Barnet were held to a score draw at the Hive by a resilient Halifax side.

The Bees started off the game with several corners, none which were able to test Sam Johnson in the Halifax goal.

On the 12th minute mark, the Shaymen got the opener when Jamie Cooke’s cross was met in the box by Billy Waters who steered the ball past Nick Hayes.

It took just 12 minutes for the Bees to draw level, Mark Shelton’s shot from outside the box wrong footed Johnson as it flew into the back of the net.

The Bees nearly had the second when Shelton again with a shot from inside the box but this time his effort was somehow kept off the line by the Halifax defence.

Danny Collinge was next to have a go at goal but his shot from the edge of the box flew over the crossbar.

Ryan Glover was looking to cause problems for the visitors when his shot from the left-hand side of the box looked like it was heading for goal, but it found the wrong side of the net and out for a goal-kick.

The final actions of the half came when Shelton forced another save from Johnson just before Jamie Cooke tried his luck at goal for Halifax, but Hayes was equal to the effort.

Half Time 1-1

Shouts for a penalty was the first action in the second 45 when Kenlock went down in the box, but the referee allowed play to continue.

Substitute Callum Stead was looking to make an impact off the bench when he found himself with room to shoot in the box, but the Halifax defence put in a great block to deny Barnet.

Adam Adetoro came closest in the second half when he jumped highest from a Florent Hoti corner but could only place his header just over the bar.

In a tight fought contest, it wasn’t clear whom if any would be taking the three points, Max Wright shot on the volley with 10 minutes to go but it again went over the bar.

The final action in the game came when Stead made an advancing run into the box before cutting onto his left-foot and shooting at goal, but Johnson did well to collect the ball.

The game finished one a piece with Barnet’s long home unbeaten run continuing.
