MATCH PREVIEW | FC HALIFAX TOWN

The Bees play host to National League play-off pushing FC Halifax Town at the Hive tomorrow afternoon (3pm) in matchday number 23 in the league.

Barnet FC:

Last weekend the Bees scored four first half goals against struggling Ebbsfleet. Nicke Kabamba got the opener in this contest when his header at the back post found its way across the line. Mark Shelton doubled the scoring with a wonder strike from outside the box before Rhys Browne with a rocket made it three with only 27 minutes played. Ryan Glover got the final goal for the Bees just five minutes later when he got onto the end of a Collinge cross to tap home. A scoreless second half for the Bees allowed Ebbsfleet to grab a consolation from Dominic Poleon when he capitalised on a mistake at the back with the game finishing 4-1.

FC Halifax Town

Tomorrow’s visitors once again find themselves fighting for a National League play-off place as they currently sit in 9th place and on 34 points, only out the playoffs on goal difference. In their last outing they played out an entertaining victory away to Aldershot Town. On loan striker Billy Waters got the opener after 18 minutes before Andrew Oluwabori doubled the scoring for the Shaymen. Aldershot fought back in the second half and got one back through Ashley Akpan before James Henry levelled the scoring in a second half comeback. Jamie Cooke capitalised on a defensive error with just 6 minutes to go to give Halifax the lead again before Zak Emmerson looked to have sealed the win. Jack Barham grabbed a late consolation for the hosts as Halifax won the game 4-3.

FC Halifax Town last five results:

Aldershot Town 3-4 FC Halifax Town

FC Halifax Town 0-0 Sutton United

Basford United 2-2 FC Halifax Town

FC Halifax Town 0-2 Southend United

Forest Green Rovers 1-1 FC Halifax Town

In the opposite dugout:

Halifax are currently managed by former Oldham assistant Chris Millington who has been at the Shaymen helm since the summer of 2022 when he made the leap from assistant to manager. Since then, he has guided his side to an FA Trophy win in 2023 and a play-off campaign in 2024.

Ones to watch:

Halifax have scored the least number of goals from the top 11 teams in the National League, so every chance is likely to count. One of the playmakers coming back from injury is former Harrogate winger Max Wright who has four assists to his name this season from 401 minutes of football. His 13 goal contributions last season show the danger he can posses for teams in this league if you give him the chance to create.

Last time these two sides met:

The last time these two sides met was in August this year in the opening round of the season when the Shaymen stunned the Bees. Jamie Cooke got the opener in this game before Ben Coker’s first goal in a Barnet shirt levelled the game up 5 minutes later. The Shaymen re-took the lead 5 minutes later again before holding on for the win.
