MATCH PREVIEW | DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE

The Bees are back at The Hive this Saturday (12:30pm) to take on Dagenham & Redbridge for an early kick-off in the Vanarama National League.

Barnet FC:

Barnet produced a dominant 5-0 victory over Yeovil Town in the Vanarama National League, maintaining control throughout the full 90 minutes.

From the outset, Barnet set the tone, with early chances from Ben Coker and Idris Kanu just falling short.

Ryan Glover had a close effort that flew over the bar, but Barnet broke the deadlock after a scramble in the box, as Glover converted the rebound off of the Yeovil keeper’s initial save to make it 1-0.

Barnet’s lead was doubled when Callum Stead finished off a low cross from Ben Coker, and soon after, a well-executed short corner from Anthony Hartigan curled into the top right corner for a 3-0 halftime advantage.

In the second half, Barnet continued to press, with Zak Brunt coming close, while the team made a series of substitutions to freshen things up.

The game turned further in Barnet’s favour when Dom Telford was awarded a penalty, which Harry Chapman calmly converted making it 4-0.

Shortly after, Barnet were awarded a second penalty after Jordan Cropper was fouled in the box.

Dom Telford stepped up to take the penalty, this time with a composed strike around the goalkeeper, pushing the score to 5-0.

Harry Chapman almost added a sixth with a brilliant solo effort, but his shot went just wide.

Yeovil had a last-ditch attempt to score but were denied by Barnet’s resolute defence.

Barnet’s last five results:

Dagenham & Redbridge:

The Daggers played out a 0-0 draw against Aldershot, with both teams unable to secure the important three points.

The match began with a fast start from the Daggers as Ryan Hill set up Josh Rees, whose shot from outside the area hit the post.

Josh Rees had another chance moments later, but his effort went over the bar, and shortly after Luca Woodhouse also had a long-range attempt that sailed wide.

Aldershot’s best chance came at the end of the first half, but Louis Jones made an excellent save to deny a header from the back post.

The second half started slowly, with Aldershot’s Jack Barham firing a shot straight at Jones.

In the 76th minute, Rutherford delivered a cross that was only half-cleared, falling to Rees, who had a great chance to score but shot over.

Josh Umerah then missed another opportunity, as his sliding effort from a low Ryan Hill cross went over the bar.

Despite continued pressure from the Daggers, neither side could break the deadlock, and the game ended in a scoreless draw.

In the opposition dugout:

Lewis Young takes the seat in the dugout for the Daggers this Saturday with his assistant Terry Connor alongside him.

Lewis Young, former professional footballer and brother of Premier League star Ashley Young, became the manager of Dagenham & Redbridge in January 2025.

After a career playing for clubs like Watford, Hereford United, and Northampton Town, Young transitioned into coaching.

He joined Dagenham in 2023 as a first-team coach and assistant to former Daggers manager Ben Strevens.

He took over as interim manager in December 2024 following Ben Strevens’ departure, and then was appointed permanent manager shortly after, signing a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Ones to watch:

Daggers midfielder Josh Rees is the clubs leading goal scorer in the league so far this season.

He has 10 goals and 5 assists to his name in 31 league appearances for the Daggers this season, averaging a goal every 241 minutes.

Last time these two sides met:

Barnet secured a dramatic 4-3 win over Dagenham in the league back in November, in what was a thrilling encounter at Victoria Road.

Dagenham took the lead just 13 seconds into the match with Josh Umerah’s early goal.

However, Barnet quickly responded, equalizing in the third minute through Idris Kanu.

The game settled, with Barnet coming close in the 25th minute, but Dagenham regained the lead in the 34th minute when Romoney Crichlow tapped in from close range.

Dagenham added a third goal early in the second half through Ryan Hill’s powerful strike, but Barnet kept pressing.

The Bees were awarded a penalty after Bailey Hobson was fouled in the box, and Nicke Kabamba converted to pull one back.

Three minutes later, Barnet equalized again with another penalty from Kabamba after Myles Kenlock was tripped.

The turnaround came when substitute Rhys Browne scored a brilliant long-range effort, putting Barnet ahead.

Barnet nearly made it five when Ryan Glover’s header was saved, and Kabamba missed a chance for a hat-trick.

Dagenham almost equalized in the final moments when their keeper, Elliot Justham, come up from his goal and headed a free kick that was saved, with the rebound hitting the crossbar.

As the drama concluded, Barnet ended up sealing the victory with a dramatic 4-3 win, taking all three points from the fixture.

The Bees will be wanting to continue their strong run of form this Saturday as well as looking to widen the gap at the top of the Vanarama National League table.

Don’t forget, this Saturday, the 8th of March, tickets for our home fixture against Dagenham & Redbridge are just £5 for adults and only £1 for kids!
