KANE SMITH JOINS THE BEES!

We’re thrilled to announce that wing-back Kane Smith has joined the Bees, becoming Dean Brennan’s eighth summer signing.

The 29-year-old spent the last two seasons in League One with Stevenage, having achieved promotion in his first season at the club in 2022-23.

Starting life at Luton Town as a youth, Kane then spent 3 years at Hitchin Town before signing for Luke Garrard’s Boreham Wood in 2017.

According to his old Gaffer, Kane played a “monumental” role in the Wood’s success, demonstrating admirable physical and mental strength to overcome a serious knee injury, before going on to secure his EFL move to Stevenage.

In his first club interview, Kane Smith said:

“To get promoted in my first year [at Stevenage] out of League Two was amazing.”

“I think everyone [here] wants to keep progressing… so hopefully we can get Barnet into League One.”

On his own strengths as a player, he added:

“[I’m] front-footed, aggressive, love to put a ball in the box, love to get forward… I’d like to think crossing is my main asset, so hopefully we’ve got some strikers who can get on the end of them!”

On securing his new RWB, manager Dean Brennan said:

“Kane is a player I’ve admired from afar for a long time, constantly on my list as a manager.

“He gives us lots of quality, fantastic crosser of the ball, and a great enthusiasm and understanding of the game.”

“He gives us competition in the wing-back areas so we’re delighted he’s decided to join us.”

The deal is subject to the usual FA and League clearances.
