Three Barnet players have been representing their countries during the latest international window, with Idris Kanu, Oisín Gallagher and Brandon Comley all in action for their respective nations.
Isaiah Noel-Williams had also been due to link up with Grenada during the international period but was unfortunately unable to represent the Spice Boys due to paperwork issues.
Gallagher helps Ireland U21s reach the play-offs
Oisín Gallagher enjoyed a successful international window with the Republic of Ireland Under-21s as they secured their place in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship play-offs.
Ireland began the window with an impressive 2-0 victory away to Slovakia on Friday 25 September before following that up with a thrilling 4-3 win over Kazakhstan at home.
Their final fixture saw Gallagher named in the starting XI against England at Turner’s Cross on Tuesday evening.
England took an early lead through Tyler Dibling, but Ireland responded superbly – Tommy Lonergan and Conor McManus turned the game around before the break, with Lonergan adding his second after half-time to complete a memorable 3-1 victory.
Gallagher started in the Irish defence as the hosts defeated an England side that had already secured automatic qualification for next summer’s European Championship.
The result confirmed Ireland’s place in the play-offs as their hopes of reaching the UEFA European Under-21 Championship remain alive.
Kanu represents Sierra Leone
Idris Kanu joined up with Sierra Leone for the start of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
The Leone Stars began their campaign against Zimbabwe on Thursday 24 September, suffering a narrow 3-2 defeat despite taking a two-goal lead.
Kanu started the fixture and completed the full 90 minutes.
Sierra Leone were back in action four days later against Equatorial Guinea, where Kanu once again played the full match. A first-half goal proved decisive as Equatorial Guinea secured a 1-0 victory.
The two appearances added another 180 minutes of international football for the Bees forward before his return to The Hive.
Four wins from four for Comley and Montserrat
Brandon Comley enjoyed an outstanding international window with Montserrat, who produced a perfect record in the CONCACAF Nations League.
The Emerald Boys opened their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Turks and Caicos Islands on 23 September before recording a convincing 3-0 victory against the British Virgin Islands three days later.
Montserrat then made it three consecutive victories by beating the British Virgin Islands 2-0 on 1 October.
Their perfect run continued in their final fixture on Tuesday, as Montserrat defeated Turks and Caicos Islands 4-1 to complete four wins from four.
It was an excellent international period for Comley and his country, who finished the window with maximum points after scoring 11 goals across their four matches and conceding just once.
Paperwork prevents Noel-Williams involvement
Isaiah Noel-Williams had been set to represent Grenada during the international window, with fixtures scheduled against Cuba, St Kitts and Nevis and Bonaire.
Unfortunately, paperwork issues meant the Bees midfielder was unable to represent Grenada during this international period.
It means Noel-Williams will have to wait for another opportunity to pull on the Grenada shirt.
Everyone at Barnet FC congratulates Idris, Oisín and Brandon on representing their countries and welcomes all four players back to The Hive ahead of our return to Sky Bet League Two action.
