BARNET FOOTBALL CLUB

Match Preview | Altrincham

The Bees host their first home game since the end of January as they welcome Altrincham to The Hive.

Brennan’s team’s impressive run suffered some turbulence last week as The Bees lost 2 matches in a row, Barnet will be coming into the game hoping that with the return of a home crowd they will bounce back to winning ways.

Altrincham, on the other hand, come to the hive following an impressive 3-1 victory over promotion pushing Woking.  Phil Parkinson’s team will be looking to add another top 7 scalp to their collection when they visit The Hive on Tuesday night.

The sides have met a total of 7 times in the past, with the Bees winning 4 of those ties. The sides settled for a draw twice, and Altrincham winning just once.

Nickname: The Robins

Founded: 1891

Ground: Moss Lane

Manager: Phil Parkinson

Top Scorer: Josh Lundstram (3)

League Position: 13th

Form: LLWLW

Recent Result: Altrincham 3-1 Woking

One to watch: Josh Lundstram

Lundstram is Altrincham’s top scorer and plays in the centre of the park for the Robins.

The Stoke born player has made 31 appearances for the club this season, featuring in the starting 11 on every single occasion. Even more impressively, the midfielder has also played every single minute of football this season that he possibly could, clocking in a staggering 2,790 minutes.

The 24 year old has contributed towards 3 goals so far this season, just 7% of the teams total goal tally. However, his game is more than just goals, Lundstram dictates the game in the middle of the park and will be sure to test the resolve of Barnet’s midfield on Tuesday.

In the dugout: Phil Parkinson

Parkinson’s footballing career began at Crewe Alexandra in the academy before moving onto Reading and later Port Vale. Following consistent moves, Parkinson ended up at Nantwich where he made 200 appearances as well as captaining his side to FA Vase glory in 2006.

The Englishman began his managerial career for Nantwich before moving onto Altrincham in the 2016/17 football season. Since then, he has managed 119 matches, picking up an average of 1.19 points per game.
