Martin Allen: Morecambe start ‘no surprise’

Barnet boss Martin Allen says the impressive start made by Tuesday night’s opponents Morecambe is no surprise to him and praised the job done by opposite number Jim Bentley.
The Shrimps are seventh in EFL League Two after winning five of their first nine fixtures. That sort of form is in stark contrast to last season when Morecambe finished 21st in League Two.
And, speaking ahead of Morecambe’s visit to The Hive on Tuesday evening (kick-off 8pm), Allen said he had not been surprised by the Lancashire outfit.

"Morecambe are a good team," Allen said. "They have had an excellent start and they have a very good manager who is very astute. We will have to be on top of our game and be ready to get out there on Tuesday night.

"There is no surprise. Jim Bentley is an excellent manager and everyone season he loses good players from his squad who go onto so called ‘bigger clubs’.
"Then Jim has to go around finding free transfers who aren’t on big wages and mould them together with good team spirit and very good organisation.
"I think he’s been there five years now, Jim, and they are always impressive."
You can watch the whole of Martin Allen’s pre-match interview below.

Barnet’s clash against the Shrimps is the first of two matches where tickets are buy one get one free.
That means supporters who purchase a ticket for either Tuesday’s game against Morecambe or Saturday’s clash with Leyton Orient will receive a free ticket to the other game.
