On a wet and misty Tuesday evening, our PDP youngsters faced a challenging test against experienced senior opposition at Ashton Town FC, in a cup tie that provided a valuable opportunity to experience the demands of men’s football.
The occasion presented a different challenge for our younger players, with the physicality, tempo and experience of senior football demanding concentration, resilience and adaptability throughout the evening. Despite the difficult conditions, the fixture offered an important learning experience for the group as they continue their development and progression within the game.
A particular positive was the involvement of first-team player Jack Maskell, who brought valuable experience to the side while taking time to mentor and support the younger players. Jack made a positive contribution on the pitch, getting on the scoresheet and creating several promising opportunities for himself and his teammates.
For our PDP players, competing in fixtures of this nature is an important part of their footballing education. Exposure to senior opposition helps develop their understanding of the game, strengthens their decision-making under pressure and prepares them for the challenges of the next stage of their footballing journey.
The result saw Ashton Town FC progress to the next round of the cup, and we congratulate them on their progression. We would also like to thank everyone at Ashton Town FC for their warm welcome and kind hospitality.
While the cup journey comes to an end for our group, the experience gained from competing in these conditions against experienced senior players will prove valuable as the players continue to learn, improve and push towards their potential.
