Barnet Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of defender Zac Williams on a free transfer as the club’s first addition ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 22-year-old arrives in North-West London after beginning his career at Crewe Alexandra, where he made his First Team debut at just 17 and went on to make 124 appearances, scoring six goals.
The youngster started his journey with the Railwaymen at the age of just six years old and progressed through the academy system, before being offered a scholarship. After impressing as a second-year scholar and making 19 First Team appearances under former boss David Artell, the defender was offered a professional contract in May 2022.
During the 2025/26 season, the Welsh youth international joined Kilmarnock on loan, where he made a total of eight appearances in the Scottish Premiership.
The left-footed centre-back has represented Wales across several age groups, from u15s all the way to u21s, captaining the sides on multiple occasions.
On getting Zac’s signature, Manager Dean Brennan said:
“For a young player, Zac’s got plenty of EFL games under his belt and he’s chosen to join us over other clubs, which is extremely positive.
He gives us great balance down the left-hand side and in the backline and he’s got a bright future with us.
Last year, I think we lacked a volume of left-footed players, so it’s something we’re trying to address this year and he’s another young player joining the club for footballing reasons, which is very important.”
On putting pen to paper with the Bees, Zac added:
“After seeing the progression of the club over the last few years and the style of play that has been implemented, it suits me a lot, so it was a no brainer for me.
Speaking to the Gaffer and the staff, they’ve made me feel very welcomed and have big aspirations for the season coming up which I can’t wait to be a part of!”
