The Barnet FC Youth Team rounded off their pre-season campaign in spectacular style over the weekend, scoring a whopping sixteen goals during their final two pre-season friendlies ahead of their first game of the new season against Leyton Orient tomorrow morning at The Hive.
Having already put five past Dagenham & Redbridge the previous weekend, the Youth Team defeated the FAB Academy, an academy based in Buckinghamshire, 8-1 at The Hive last Friday.
Matt Stevens and Nana Emmanuel both grabbed a brace, while Shane Cojocarel and Alfie Cain, who recently came on as a late substitute for the first team in their pre-season friendly against Luton Town, also netted one each.
Rounding off the scoring were two U16 players in Daniel Cheema, who represented England at the Futsal World Championships in Italy back in April, and Ephrow Mason Clarke with a penalty.
On Saturday a Barnet team made up of scholars and a number of trialists then took on the Kinetic Academy, overcoming the London-based academy 8-4. And it was one of Barnet’s contracted youngsters in Brian Testolin who stole the show on the day, ending up with a haul of four goals.
Both games saw the Barnet youngsters continue the impressive goal-scoring form that they had already shown against Dagenham and Redbridge the previous weekend, when they ran out 5-3 winners.
Both Jack Taylor and Alfie Cain scored in the game, earning a call-up to the first team squad the following day against Luton Town having impressed the watching Martin Allen, while Shane Cojocarel, Keir Dickson and Fumnaya Shomotum also bagged one each.
The results mean that the Youth Team are in superb form heading into the new competitive season, which kicks off tomorrow, Saturday 2nd August, here at The Hive with a game against Leyton Orient at 11:00 on Pitch A adjacent to the East Stand of the main stadium.
Entry is free for all fans who wish to come and watch the next generation of Bees in action ahead of the first team’s final pre-season friendly against Wycombe Wanderers at 15:00.
