Youth Team grab another win

The Barnet FC Youth Team continued their promising start to the season on Saturday, registering their second win of the new season with a 3-2 victory away to Dagenham & Redbridge.

The result capped a convincing performance from the young Bees who were dominant going forward throughout, and found themselves 3-0 within an hour thanks to an impressive hat-trick from Matt Stevens.

His first came after half an hour, when he latched onto a superb lofted diagonal ball from Alfie Cain, who featured for the first team against Luton Town during pre-season, sending a looping header over the onrushing goalkeeper.

The second goal came five minutes after half-time, when an excellent through ball from Jack Taylor, another to feature against the Hatters was collected by Stevens before being calmy converted into the net.

The attacker then completed his hat-trick on 60 minutes, bursting through the midfield before unleashing a fierce drive from outside the area beyond the goalkeeper.

An uncertain five minute spell during the second half nearly let the Daggers back into the contest, with the home side hitting back with two goals on 65 and 70 minutes after Barnet conceded possession from their own free-kick and throw-in.

However, the Bees held on to register their second win of the season. They have now taken seven points from their opening four games to find themselves right in the thick of the action at the top of the table.
