The Club are delighted to announce that attacking midfielder Wes Fonguck has signed a contract extension with the Bees ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
Fonguck was a product of the Barnet FC Academy and signed his first professional contract in 2015, since then Wes has become a Bees fans favourite and has made over 100 appearances during that time.
After a promising start to the season last year, the campaign ended in frustration for Fonguck who was ruled out the remainder of the 2020-21 season after suffering an ACL injury in December. Last time out, the creative midfielder scored three goals in all competitions, including one of the goals of the season in our FA Cup triumph over Burton Albion. Wes is currently still continuing his rehabilitation with the Clubs medical team.

During his time in North London, Fonguck has also represented the Three Lions after being called up into Paul Fairclough’s England ‘C’ squad back in September 2018.
Fonguck will now hope to get himself back to full fitness as quickly as possible and return to action in a Bees shirt so he can make an impact in Harry Kewell’s team.
Speaking after signing his contract extension, Wes said:
“It’s been a tough year for me and the team in general, but it’s a new year and we need to put it behind us, I am itching to get back out there. I’m running again but it’s now about getting back to the old me and even more if I’m honest.
“I think the boys owe the fans a big season, of course we have a new manager in so we need to show him what we can do and show the fans that too. I’m looking forward to the season ahead.”
Everyone at the Club is delighted to have secured Wes’ services for the upcoming season and look forward to seeing him return to action soon!
As usual, the deal is subject to ratification from the various footballing regulatory bodies.
