Eight Barnet players have moved away from The Hive London this week and Under-21 coach Dean Selvey says those moves will be a test of whether they can transition successfully to men’s football.
The eight players and their clubs are as follows:
Justin Amaluzor – Hemel Hempstead Town (Vanarama National League South)
Fumnaya Shomotun – Margate (Vanarama National League South)
Shane Cojocarel – Merstham (Ryman Isthmian Premier Division)
Joe Payne – Grays Athletic (Ryman Isthmian Premier Division)
Tom Day – Staines Town (Ryman Isthmian Premier Division)
Tobi Coker – A.F.C Hornchurch (Ryman Isthmian Division One North)
Dan Cheema – Cheshunt (Ryman Isthmian Division One North)
Tyler Brown – Whyteleafe (Ryman Isthmian Division One South)
“We’ve had a real push to get a loan strategy together to get our young boys out on loan,” Selvey said. “We’ve talked to them recently and we know they’re technically and tactically good enough.
“But can they transfer that into men’s football when the environment is a little bit different, you may not have as much time on the ball and you’ve got to get used to playing with different players and different systems.
“It’s an opportunity for those boys to play Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday which is the reality of playing football in the Football League.”
