Valentin Gjokaj On Nuneaton Town

Valentin Gjokaj put in a stunning display against Nuneaton Town as a young Barnet side took all three points from the Sperrin Brewery Stadium.
The defender’s second-half thunderbolt ensured the win but the on loan Derby County defender’s clearance off the line in the latter stages proved just important.
Speaking to BarnetFC.com, Gjokaj explained the importance of bouncing back following last weekend’s humbling 0-4 defeat at home to FC Halifax Town.
“It was very important to get a reaction following last weekend,” explained Gjokaj.
“We have two games left and it is important for ourselves and the fans that we finish the season strongly.
“We were all disappointed following last weekend’s defeat to Halifax but now we are fully focussed on winning the next two games.”
Gjokaj’s stunning strike will live long in the memory and he admitted that as a defender he hasn’t hit many like it.
“I’ve not hit many like that over the years. It is always nice to score especially when it is an important winning goal.
Shortly after opening the scoring the Albainan Under-21 international was back on defensive duty to clear the ball off the line.
“It was great ball into the box and it was difficult to defend because the ball bounced and I was unable to hit it at full speed.
“I just reacted and thankfully I was able to hit it perfectly and clear it off the line.”
The defender continued by reflecting on his loan spell at The Hive revealing that the club have been great since the moment he walked through the door.
“At my age all that matters is playing games and I’m happy I could sign on loan for Barnet as it’s a great club and they have been great to me from my very first day.
“I’m trying to help the team and I think it has been a good move for me and the club.”
