Physiotherapist Luigi Cerullo has been treating a handful of first-team Barnet players at the start of the season and has provided Bees supporters with an update on how those in the treatment room are progressing.
The Bees have been unfortunate to lose three senior players — Michael Gash, James Pearson and Gavin Hoyte — to long-term injuries in 2016. However, all three are working hard to return to action.
Hoyte was injured in January while Pearson and Gash both suffered setbacks at the start of this campaign.
"Gashy had his operation in London on Tuesday," said Cerullo. "It is still early days in terms of post operation for him so we will see later down the line how he is doing."
He continued: "James Pearson is progressing as expected following his operation and Gavin Hoyte will be back in gentle training this week. Though he is still a little while off returning he is progressing well."
In the shorter term Martin Allen is also without French defender Bira Dembele, left-back Sam Muggleton and young winger Justin Amaluzor. The trio have also been working hard under the watchful eye of Cerullo, though, and are not considered long-term absentees.
"We will see how Bira Dembele progresses through the week with his training and how he reacts to it," Cerullo explained of the centre-back who has not played for the first team since the 1-1 draw with Crawley Town on August 20.
He added: "Sam Muggleton and Justin Amaluzor both picked up strains against MK Dons. It was a shame for Justin after his good performance when he came on. Hopefully it won’t be too long until he is available for selection again."
