U18’s Triumph In Cup Final!

Barnet started strong with the first shot of the game coming from Benji Aghadiuno on the edge of the box within the first 2 minutes.
The Bees went close again in the 10th minute when Rio Connell had his shot tipped over the bar by the fingertips of Staines’ Julian Schwarzer.
Barnet were looking to shoot on sight in the first half with attempts from EJ Mensah, Arale Mohammed and Rio Connell.
In the 34th minute, Barnet grabbed their goal when a shot from Tobi Adaje took a deflection past Schwarzer.
4 minutes later Staines nearly equalised when a double effort from Hector Earley and Elliot Baptiste was saved by Barnet keeper Charlie Busby.
Just on the stroke of half time Staines went close again when Michael Dwane-Holden’s strike on the edge of the box forced another save from Busby.
In the second half Staines gave everything they could, and in the 71st minute Nebay Haile went close with a low effort from 25 yards falling wide of the post.
On the 79th minute Staines’ Charlie Brown struck the ball across goal only for Michael Dwane-Holden to miss the ball from 5 yards and squander the chance to go level.
Staines’ luck looked to be running out until the 3rd minute of stoppage time when Arberi Bregu’s cross wasn’t dealt with by Barnet’s defence and Nebay Haile nodded home to send the game in to extra time.
The first half of extra time was too close to call, but an excellent save from Julian Schwarzer denied Rio Connell one on one keep things balanced.
The second half of extra time saw both teams pushing to get the goal that would surely win the game.
