Turley named as Club Captain

Our Head Coach, Harry Kewell has named Jamie Turley as Barnet FC Club Captain, for the upcoming 2021/22 season.

The experienced-defender joined the Bees in the summer after spending two seasons at Leyton Orient, where he won promotion from the National League.

Prior to his time at the Breyer Group Stadium, Turley also represented the likes of Forest Green Rovers, Eastleigh and Notts County.

The 6ft 1ins defender will lead the Bees out for the season and is looking forward to the season ahead. He said:

“I am really looking forward to it! The boys had a great pre-season and we have gelled together considering it is a new squad.

“We are all looking forward to getting going this season.

“It will be an honour to lead the boys out for this season and I will be proud to captain the team for the upcoming campaign.”

Kewell has explained his decision to give the armband to Turley this season. Kewell said:

“He was an excellent candidate when I first spoke to him about joining Barnet FC. He’s the leader that I’m looking for, he knows the levels, and he’s been promoted out of this league before so knows what’s required. All in all he’s a fantastic player.

“Jamie is a leader and that is what you look for in your captain. He is a leader and is not someone that scores three goals a game, but is someone that organises the team and works hard to the very end.”
