Transfer | Richard Brindley signs for Barnet FC

The 24-year-old was a regular last season at Colchester United, where he made 43 appearances.

After coming up through the youth system at Norwich City, Richard’s senior career began at National League South side Chelmsford City. A move to Chesterfield followed just six months later, making his Football League debut in February 2013.

Following his spell at the Spireites, he was quickly snapped up by Rotherham United and was a key part of their promotion to the Championship. He made 24 appearances that season, including coming on as a substitute in the 54th minute of the play-off final.

The following season saw him loaned to Scunthorpe, Oxford United and Colchester before signing a permanent deal at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

He played 68 times for the Essex side over two seasons and lined up in the 1-1 draw here at The Hive last season.

Head-coach Rossi Eames has welcomed the new addition to his squad.

“It’s a fantastic coup for the club as he’s got vast experience.

“He fits the profile of the player that we look for and he’s got excellent pedigree. He was part of an excellent side at Colchester and he’s going to bring athleticism, technical and tactical abilities to our back line.”
