Transfer | Mohamed Bettamer signs for Barnet FC

The 25-year-old forward joins The Bees off the back of an impressive start to the National League season, notching 6 goals in just 15 appearances for The Iron. Bettamer will be confident in his own goal-scoring ability and in his last appearance, he scored two goals against high-flying Salford City in a 2-2 draw.

Whilst he has averaged a goal every 209 minutes this campaign, he has also bagged an impressive 29 goals in all competitions for Staines Town last season.

Given his goalscoring prowess, it comes as no surprise that other National League clubs and sides in the Football League were interested in securing his signature. But, it was John Still who acted fastest to get his man.

Although mainly used in a centre-forward capacity, Bettamer has also been used as a left-winger, which will offer versatility to Still’s selection options.

Speaking on his latest addition, Bees Manager Still has said:

“I’ve known Mo for quite some time, he was on our hit list at my former club when we were looking to bring people in.

“Then I came here and when the opportunity came, we made an enquiry, went through the right procedure and found a way to bring him here, and we’re delighted.”

The Libyan forward, who has also represented Hayes & Yeading, Hampton & Richmond and Al-Ahli Benghazi, also spoke of his joy to be a Bee!

“I’m very glad to be here, it’s a great opportunity.

“John (Still) has shown me all my scout reports, even from when I was at Staines!

“This is something I’ve wanted since I was young, to be full time and play football as my day job. I want to show what I’m capable of and put my head down, work hard, get onto the football pitch and score some goals!”

He will be available for The Bees’ First Round FA Cup tie against Bristol Rovers at the Hive on Sunday.

Welcome to Barnet, Mo!
