Transfer | Mark Cousins to sign for Barnet FC

The 31-year old joins Barnet after most recently featuring for Dagenham & Redbridge where he was named their Player of the Season. He featured in all 46 league matches last campaign, keeping 11 clean sheets.

Cousins started his career as a schoolboy at Fulham, before heading to Colchester United where he made the step from scholarship to first team.

His first taste of senior football came on loan at Whitton Town before making his Football League debut for Colchester against Barnsley, coming on as a substitute in August 2007.

Further loans followed at Staines Town, Enfield Town and Yeading before he was given the number 1 shirt at the Weston Holmes Community Stadium in July 2012. He made 58 appearances for Colchester before joining Dagenham in the summer of 2014.

He became an instant hit in East London, finishing his first season as runner-up in the clubs end of season awards. He helped the club to and featured in the play-off semi-finals in 2017. Cousins leaves Dagenham having featured in over 100 games for the club.

Speaking on his arrival at The Hive London, Cousins has said:

“I’m very pleased to be here at Barnet, it’s a great club and a big club.

“It’s a new chapter in my football career and I’m very much looking forward to it.”

Speaking about his first signing at The Hive, John Still is happy to welcome Cousins to the club:

“Mark was outstanding at Dagenham, he worked hard to get his opportunity in the starting line-up and when he got there, his performances were top-drawer and he quite rightly got awarded Player of the Year.

“His contract was up and I’m very glad he’s joined Barnet over others. We have a great working relationship and he is not only a good player but a good person as well.”

Welcome to Barnet Football Club, Mark!
