Tom Flanagan is looking forward to helping Barnet Football Club push up the Npower League Two table.
The defender has joined the club for the remainder of the 2012/13 season from MK Dons and he is hoping to have a big impact during his time at Underhill.
Speaking exclusively to barnetfc.com Flanagan stated his desire to help the team and cement his place in Edgar Davids’ back four.
“We have a few big games coming up against the teams around us so I am really looking forward to the testing myself and helping the team.
“Even though I have been out on loan before I have not been in the position of where I need to hold down a first-team place and that is my aim for the remainder of the season.
The 21-year-old already has experience in League Two after spending the start of the season on loan with Gillingham and he thoroughly enjoyed his time at the club.
“I absolutely loved my time there but of course they are pushing for promotion and at the other end of the spectrum.
“When you’re at the top of the league you can win when you don’t deserve it but the opposite often happens when you’re near the bottom.
“It was a good test at Gillingham and the season before that I was in the first-team for MK so I am used to winning and hopefully I can win here at Barnet.
Flanagan also believes he can bring the experience he has from his time with the Gills and the Dons and help Barnet push up the table.
He said: “Hopefully I can bring something to the team but I don’t think the club would have brought me here unless they thought I could add something.
“That obviously stand us in good stead and like I said I am very much looking forward to my time here.”
Despite such a young age Flanagan has already played with some big players including Dietmar Hamann and he is very much looking forward to playing and learning from Davids.
“It is very surreal because he is a big name in football, I always remembered him when I was younger because he was on the Nike adverts.
“I have been lucky enough to play with some other greats like Didi Hamann and I really like the way they coach so hopefully Edgar is going to be the same.”
