Tom Day moves out on loan

Barnet defender Tom Day has joined Isthmian Premier Division side Staines Town on loan for a month.

The 18-year-old right-back-cum-centre-back joins the Swans ahead of their fixture at Havant & Waterlooville on Saturday.

Development Team Coach Ross Eames said of Day’s switch: "It’s a really good move for Tom. It will educate him and develop him.

"Playing senior men’s football will only develop Tom in all four corners: technically, tactically, physically and mentally.

"I spoke to him earlier and he is really pleased, he is excited to get going.

"It’s a big jump from Under-21 football to men’s football. In pre-season we played a lot of non-league teams – including Staines – so he knows what he is going into.

"I will be going down to watch games and give him his own feedback as well. We’ve had Fumnaya Shomotun and Harry Taylor go there on loan last season which was excellent for both of them."
