THE JOURNEY OF ST JOHN FISHER PRIMARY SCHOOL

Over the last few months, the club have been delighted to promote and be a part of the incredible journey of St John Fisher Catholic Primary School and their fantastic journey representing Barnet FC in the Utilita Cup!

The Utilita Cup is a competition held by all EFL clubs, split into league and regional sections, where the winners in each section of every league have the opportunity to play at Wembley!

In early November, as part of the EFL Week Of Action – The Hive played host to the Harrow Cup, with 32 primary schools entering the tournament. The winners were elected to represent Barnet at the Regional League Two Final in Milton Keynes.

After a few close results and penalty shoot-out wins – St John Fisher Primary School emerged as the tournament winners and as a result of that, received a lap of honour for their feats and achievements at half-time during Barnet’s fixture against Cheltenham in February.

Following a memorable day for the boys, the club where keen to ensure that the players where readily motivated and prepared for the regional finals, so First Team players Mark Shelton and Nik Tavares, alongside Academy Scholar Aaron Liwala, visited the school to take part and coach a training session a week before the regional finals.

The regional finals took place a week later and following an unbeaten run in the entire tournament and another penalty shoot-out win in the semi-finals, the team did the Barnet FC badge proud and won the tournament!

As a result, the group will now play the final against the Northern Regional Winners, Notts County, at Wembley, the home of football, in which will be a memorable day for the children, teachers, families and all involved, creating memories of a lifetime and a story that has been built up over the entire season!

The team joined up with the Barnet FC First Team at a training session, getting autographs and more advice ahead of what will be an unforgettable experience for everyone taking part, as the boys have all eyes on the trophy this coming Monday before the League Two Play-Off final kicks off.

Foundation Manager, Aleksander Czerniec said, “I am beyond delighted for the school and most importantly the kids involved. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the families of everyone involved and the club is beyond excited to have such a wonderful group of people represent the club on the biggest stage of them all. We wish them the best of luck on Monday and look forward to seeing them rewarded for their hard work!”
