Sykes Returns For Cambridge Clash

George Sykes could feature for the Bees tomorrow after being included in Edgar Davids’ side to face Cambridge United.
The youngster has spent the last few months on loan with Bishop’s Stortford who currently third in the Skrill South with three games in hand on leaders Eastleigh.
The 19-year-old’s loan ended at 6pm on Friday and although he admitted his surprise at his inclusion in the Bees’ squad he is ready to impress should the chance come along.
“I’m quite surprised to be included because my loan only expired at 6pm today but I’m looking forward to the match and hopefully we can get a win.”
Sykes also believes he will need no time to settle after his return having trained with the Bees twice a week during his loan spell at the ProKit UK Stadium.
“I haven’t had much regular game-time lately but when I did feature I enjoyed it and I think it will stand me in good stead.
“I’ve trained twice a week with Barnet whilst I’ve been on loan so it is not as if I need to settle in.”
Stortford currently sit third in the Skrill South and Sykes, who appeared 11 times for the club scoring two goals, hopes they can go on to claim promotion to the Skrill Premier.
“I really enjoyed my time with Bishop’s Stortford and even though I didn’t play as much as I would of like because of cup competitions it was really enjoyable.
“They’re top of the league and doing really well so I hope they can push on and get promoted at the end of the season.”
You may think a 5.30 clash live on BT Sport is a big change from Bishop’s Stortford but Sykes’ former club featured on live TV just one-week ago. However, he insisted it doesn’t matter who he plays in front of as long as he plays and he is hoping for another opportunity to shine in the Herts Senior Cup.
"Bishops Stortford played in the FA Cup on ITV last week so it could be two-weeks in a row on TV if I’m picked but I just want to play not matter who it is in front of.
"We also have Hatfield in the Herts Senior Cup in a few weeks so hopefully there will be a few chances for people stake a claim for a place in the first-team."
Jamal Lowe’s loan spell with Hitchin Town is due to expire at 6pm on Saturday.
