SIGNING: Sam Akinde Joins Bees

Barnet Football Club is delighted to announce the signing their new number 24, Sam Akinde.
Brother of John, Sam hopes to link up with his sibling in the Bees front line and mirror his elder brother’s success.
Speaking exclusively to Barnet’s YouTube channel, Sam spoke of his pride in his brothers Barnet achievements.
“There’s obviously a lot of pressure because he’s done so well at the club. It’s a big name to live up to. I look up to him a lot.”
Sam hopes to break into the first team as soon as possible and help the club push on to the next level.
“I hope we get to the playoffs, get to Wembley and get promoted to League One. Become a League One football club.”
Describing his playing style, Sam said:
“I’m quick, I can hold the ball up, and goals – I’m here to score goals.”
Having already been involved with the 21’s in pre-season, Sam feels at home around The Hive.
“I know a few of the boys so I’m settling in really well. I don’t feel out of place, I feel like I’m at home. It’s been good.”
Sam has signed a one-year contract, but he is already looking to build on to that with the club.
“Being a professional footballer you wanna do well for the team and get to the highest possible level. I wanna push on with the club.”
And Sam went on to speak highly about Kevin Nugent’s influence on him since arriving.
“He’s a striker himself. He pushes us to do better. He’s been good.”
He closed the interview by highlighting how important it is to him to make the fans proud.
“I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t get into the playoffs. That’s my aim. That’s what I want to do for the fans.”
