Sam Togwell signs new deal with the club

Barnet FC are pleased to announce that midfielder Sam Togwell has agreed a new one-year deal with the club that will see him stay at The Hive for the 2015/16 season.

Togwell joined Barnet back in August 2014 after having been released by Chesterfield, and went on to make 42 league appearances last season as the Bees finished as champions of the Vanarama Conference.

Speaking with the club about his new deal, Togwell says that he is really pleased to be staying and is looking forward to pushing on for another successful season with the Bees:

“I’m really happy it’s been sorted and we can now look forward to pushing on with a successful season in League Two.”

“I’ve played league football for my entire career; last season was my first outside of the top four tiers so it feels great to be back. It’s a good place to be, with bigger stadiums and larger crowds.”

“I believe that with the majority of the squad we had last year, plus the new additions to the team, there is no reason why we can’t push ourselves up toward the top regions of League Two.”

“I’m delighted with the amount I played last season, and I’m hoping to get a similar amount of appearances in the upcoming campaign. It will be tougher in League Two but I fully back myself to play at this level, I’ve played in over 400 games throughout my career and I feel I’ve got the experience to deal with it.”

Commenting on the new deal, Manager Martin Allen has said: “I’m delighted he’s put pen to paper. He’s a key player on and off the field and is another champion in our squad.”
