Report | Wycombe Wanderers 3-1 Barnet FC

Barnet started the better of the two sides, we Charlie Clough making an excellent overlapping run before delivering a dangerous cross towards Shaq Coulthirst who couldn’t get full control of the ball which then ran through to the opposition ‘keeper.

20 minutes in Coulthirst had two efforts on goal. The first scrambled clear off of the line by El-Abd, the second deflected behind for a corner.

Moments later however Barnet fell behind. A ball floated towards the back post found Adebayo Akinfenwa unmarked to head home.

In the 26th minute, Andre Blackman delivered a good cross but it was just in front of Coulthirst and Jamal Campbell-Ryce.

Shaq Coulthirst was taken off at the break after making the coaching staff aware that he had tweaked his hamstring and he was not risked for the remainder of the match.

Wycombe started the second period well and made their pressure count with a second goal in the 64th minute.

A long kick from ‘keeper Scott Brown caused issues for the Barnet back line, it fell to Akinfenwa who played it across for Josh Umerah to tap home.

10 minutes later it was three. Ricardo Santos didn’t deal with the danger by the corner flag effectively, the ball was stolen by Nick Freeman who raced through and fired high past the stranded Craig Ross.

Barnet hit back two minutes later. Simeon Akinola drove forward before unleashing a shot which looped up for Mauro Vilhete to volley home but it was to be nothing more than a consolation goal for the Bees.
