Report | Lincoln City 2-1 Barnet FC

The Imps took the lead after just 6 minutes. Ollie Palmer received the ball on the edge of the box before powerfully curling past Craig Ross.

The hosts continued to pressurise the Barnet defence with Matt Green having two unsuccessful attempts at goal around the 20th minute,

Ginnelly’s dipping 30 yard strike was tipped over the bar by Craig Ross before more Lincoln shots were blocked by Charlie Clough and David Tutonda who put their bodies on the line.

Sean Raggett’s towering free header 32 minutes in went wide before Barnet registered their first shot on target, Jamal Campbell-Ryce fired at goal but former Bee Josh Vickers stood firm.

Shortly half time, the hosts doubled their advantage. Green cross was played back across the area by Woodyard before Harry Anderson volleyed home for 6 yards out.

The Bees looked like a different side after the break. Minutes after the restart, Wes Fonguck had a thunderous strike towards goal blocked.

Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro flicked on a long ball from the back to send Coulthirst racing down on goal but Josh Vickers narrowly beat the Barnet front man to the ball.

At the other end, Ollie Palmer’s low right footed curler was palmed away by Ross and the resulting corner was cleared off of the line by Vilhete.

The Bees pulled a goal back in the 63rd minute. Mauro Vilhete’s teasing cross was not dealt with effectively by the Lincoln defence, it fell to Shaq Coulthirst who took a wonderful touch before volleying home.

A string of corners followed for Barnet but they couldn’t make any of them count. In the 76th minute, Josh Vickers completely sliced a clearance leaving him stranded out of goal but it just didn’t fall near any Barnet player to capitalise on the error.

The fourth official signalled a minimum of 6 additional minutes and Barnet continued to throw everything at the opposition, but almost got caught on the counter as Craig Ross pulled off another fantastic save stopping Harry Anderson’s goal bound effort.

Bover’s corner on the right had to be headed behind by Bostwick and the following one was headed towards goal by Charlie Clough but saved by Vickers.
