Barnet started strongly and took a deserved lead seven minutes in. Craig Ross’ long ball was headed on by Shaq Coulthirst and sent Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro racing through on goal. His first effort struck the post but he tapped home the rebound.
Carlisle responded strongly, but a clever flick from Reggie Lambe a couple of minutes later didn’t trouble Craig Ross in the Barnet goal.
Just after the half hour mark, Vilhete sprayed the ball out wide Harry Taylor who delivered a dangerous cross. Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro got onto the end of it, but headed over the bar.
Just after, Coulthirst laid off Jamal Campbell-Ryce who curled an effort towards goal but it was saved by George.
Two minutes later, Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro delivered a low cross which rolled across the face of goal, inches away from the feet of the on rushing David Tutonda.
Ten minutes after the restart, Shaq Coulthirst forced Shamal George into a save away to his left.
On the hour, David Tutonda delivered a dangerous cross but there was no man in amber on the end of it.
As we entered the final 15 minutes, Carlisle stepped up their performance and started pressurising the Barnet goal, Bennett heading over the bar.
Shaun Miller’s downward header minutes later caused havoc in the Barnet area but the Bees managed to scramble clear.
With 5 minutes to go, Carlisle drew level through a spectacular bicycle kick from Shaun Miller which looped over Craig Ross.
In stoppage time, Akinde raced through on goal and had an effort blocked, but picked up an injury in the process.
At the other end, Michael Nelson put in a superb tackle to deny Bennett getting a shot away.
With almost the final action of the match, Craig Ross pulled off a superb save, clawing the ball back off the goal line from a bullet header.
