Following a slow start, Barnet took the lead in the nineteenth minute. Captain Mauro Vilhete set Nana Kyei through one on one before calmly dispatching past McDonald in the Braintree goal.
A couple of good opportunities followed soon after for the hosts, Craig Ross having to deny Phil Roberts with a spectacular one-handed save. Darnell Smith then put in a vital block to deny a shot from Wynter.
Barnet doubled their lead just five minutes before the half time whistle. Trialist One picked up the ball in space on the edge of the box and curled a shot past the helpless McDonald and into the net.
Trialist One turned provided four minutes into the second half, delivering a pin-point ball onto the head of Mauro Vilhete who made in three.
Justin Amaluzor tried to get in on the act shortly afterwards, his effort striking the upright.
Rossi Eames made four changes on the hour mark, with one of them almost making an instant impact. Trialist Two brought the ball forward from the right flank before cutting inside and unleashing a shot which went narrowly wide.
Chances followed for both Akinola and Coker before Braintree pulled one back with virtually the final kick of the match.
A corner from the left hand side found Ben Wyatt unmarked who headed past Kai McKenzie-Lyle.
