Pavey signs on loan for the Bees

Barnet FC are delighted to announce the signing of striker Alfie Pavey on a one-month youth loan deal from Millwall.

The eighteen-year-old forward joined the Lions in the summer of 2013 after a prolific season with Maidstone United where he scored an incredible 124 goals during a single campaign for their U18 side on the way to the Conference Youth Alliance title as well as making his first team debut in the Isthmian League Cup.

Since signing for the Championship club Pavey, who turns 19 next week, has enjoyed much success with the Millwall U21s under the tutelage of Neil Harris and Scott Fitzgerald.

Speaking to the club’s official website this afternoon about his move to The Hive, Pavey said:

“I’m really looking forward to it. It is obviously my first loan so I can’t wait to get started and get down to it.

“I had a chat with Martin last night on the phone and he told me about how he works and how the club run and it all sounds very positive.

“I’m hoping to learn from some of the more experienced players and see if I can bring some of the qualities that they have in their game into mine. It should be a great experience for me playing against bigger, stronger players and working on my hold-up play.

“The first training session today went well. It is a nice little ground here and I’ve heard that they get a decent crowd, so hopefully I can get some game time and get myself on the scoresheet.”

Alfie will wear the number 26 shirt for the Bees and is available for selection ahead of tomorrow’s trip to take on Forest Green Rovers.
