Barnet Football Club are delighted to welcome Paul Butler to The Hive London, Butler joins the Bees as our new First Team Coach and will assist Head Coach Harry Kewell as preparations continue for the 2021/22 season.
Butler has previously worked with Kewell when the pair linked up for a short period at Oldham Athletic last year.
Our new First Team Coach brings a wealth of coaching experience to The Hive London, having worked within the EFL or above for the entirety of his coaching career. Butler firstly started as part of the backroom staff under Roy Hodgson at Premier League side Fulham.
Notably, Butler also spent time as Assistant Manager at Leeds United in 2017/18 and has also held Senior First Team Coaching roles at Blackpool, Doncaster Rovers and Derby County where he assisted former England Manager Steve McClaren. With that experience, Butler brings several years of coaching from England’s second-tier and the know-how of some of the most respected managers within the English game.
Butler has also coached abroad in Holland and the wealth of experience he will bring to The Hive London will stand the Bees in great stead heading into the new campaign.
Our new First Team Coach was delighted to join the Club and can’t wait to get going, he said:
“It’s a terrific moment for the Club and the Chairman has a great vision for where he wants the Club to go. Harry has come here which is exciting for the Club and I am absolutely thrilled to be joining up with him again. I had a short experience with him at Oldham, but really enjoyed my time working with him, we had a great connection together as coaches, hopefully we can have a good impression on the First Team.
“It’s a wonderful infrastructure at the Club, I have been really impressed with all of the facilities that are in place. The players have come back for pre-season excited, I am really enjoying working with them, we can get preparing them to be the very best they can be for the season ahead. All of the staff are well organised and pulling together in the right direction, we’re all looking forward to the challenge ahead. Hopefully, me and Harry can be two components of a really successful season for the Club.”
First Team Head Coach, Harry Kewell feels that acquiring Butler is an important part of gaining success in the season ahead at The Hive London, he said:
“It’s fantastic, I’ve worked with some fantastic Assistant Coach’s, but I feel his skill and experience is going to help me a lot and that is why I chose him. Not only does he bring skill and expertise, he’s a great character as well, he brings life and soul, he’s very energetic and he’s very positive. I am looking forward to working with him.
“He’s very strong in certain areas and strengths which we will look to work to. I have no doubt that he is the perfect fit for this role.”
