With two first half saves from Day in the Stevenage goal, and Dembele’s headed effort late on in the second half, Nugent felt there were opportunities to take something from the game.
“Effort wise I couldn’t ask for anything more from the players. I thought we dominated the game for large patches.”
“Their Keeper’s made a great save in the first minute, and then made another great save against John Akinde.”
Stevenage’s deflected goal was the only difference between the two sides on an afternoon where Bees Keeper Jamie Stephens was largely untested.
“It’s a deflected shot. Jamie Stephens hasn’t had a lot to do in the game.”
“The goal against was unfortunate. It’s a wayward shot that gets a deflection, and Jamie can’t do anything with that at all.”
Nugent felt the sides were closely matched, with the Bees unlucky not to get something from the game.
“I thought we were in the game the whole time. There were a few moments where we lacked a bit of quality, but overall there was nothing in the two teams.”
“We were in the game right to the last second.
We thought we were going to get something, but it wasn’t to be.”
