Defender Nik Tavares becomes Dean Brennan’s third signing of the summer.
Tavares spent the last 2 seasons at fellow National League side Dagenham & Redbridge and joins the Club on a 2 year contract.
The centre-back who hails from South Africa, spent his youth career at Brentford and Crystal Palace followed by a season at Wealdstone and then the Daggers. He also won six caps for Croatia between U18 and U20 level.
Upon joining Barnet, Tavares said:
“After speaking to the Manager, the ambition and the style of play; that’s big for me. It felt like a bit of a no-brainer!
I’m a defender that likes to play out from the back. I’ve always looked for clubs that can help bring that out in my game.
Barnet is the perfect fit for that.”
Barnet FC Manager, Dean Brennan, said:
“Nik is a player I know well. I’ve worked with him before and he has a high footballing IQ.
His stats are immense; second best defensive duals last season in the league and will bring a calmness to our defence.
His distribution is brilliant and he reads the game really well.”
Welcome to Barnet, Nik.
The deal is subject to the usual FA and League clearances.
