Nuneaton Town boss Kevin Wilkin has been named the ‘Manager of the Month’ for August in The Skrill Premier. Part time Boro have remained unbeaten in their six fixtures in the opening month of the season to sit at the top of the table with fancied duo Cambridge United and Barnet. They started the campaign with a 1-0 victory at Macclesfield Town on the opening day. Since then they have also beaten last season’s runners-up Kidderminster Harriers and also held pre-season favourites Forest Green Rovers to a draw. On the road they have shared the points with Barnet at The Hive and rounded off the month with a fantastic 2-1 win at Grimsby Town.
Hednesford Town’s Rob Smith is The Skrill North ‘Manager of the Month’ for August. Smith’s side have made an unbeaten start to life in the division, following their promotion from the Evo-Stik Northern Premier last season. The Pitmen have taken 13 points from a possible 15, with four wins and a draw. The highlights a 4-0 win away at Stalybridge Celtic, an established side in the division, and a 3-1 home win over Barrow, who were plying their trade in the Premier section just five months ago. It was nearly a double for the club as Elliott Durrell’s incredible 8-goal start to the season was just beaten into second place in the player category!
Tommy Widdrington from Eastbourne Borough is The Skrill South ‘Manager of the Month’ for August. The former Southampton player has just completed 18 months in his job with The Sports and they have started the season with four unbeaten matches. 1-0 away wins at Weston-super-Mare and Hayes & Yeading United have been combined with a home 2-1 win over Tonbridge Angels and a 1-1 home draw with one of the pre-season favourites Ebbsfleet United.
BERRY RIPE AS CAMBRIDGE START AS THEY MEAN TO GO ON
Cambridge United’s Luke Berry is The Skrill Premier ‘Player of the Month’ for August. The U’s star has already equalled last season’s goal tally of three as he has played a vital part in their unbeaten start to the season. A winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Lincoln City was followed up a week later with a brace in the 3-0 home win over Tamworth which took Richard Money’s side to the top of the table on goal difference. Berry, who came through the youth system at the club, has also earned an England C call-up for the game against Latvia U23 on September 10.
Sean Clancy of AFC Telford United is The Skrill North ‘Player of the Month’ for August. Clancy joined the Bucks in the summer to team up with former boss Liam Watson and has made an immediate impact for the pre-season favourites. Clancy has scored in the last four matches for his side and moves into next weekend’s fixture eyeing a club record for scoring in five consecutive games. He has also contributed a number of assists as well as having his work rate praised by his new clubs’ fans.
Bromley’s Pierre Joseph-Dubois has been named The Skrill South ‘Player of the Month’ for August. The striker, who took the same award in September of last season, has got The Lillywhites off to a table-topping start with four goals in five games. Pierre hit the opening goals in the recent home victories over Tonbridge Angels and Gosport Borough as well as strikes against Whitehawk and Hayes & Yeading United.
