MATCH REPORT | YEOVIL TOWN

The Bees dominate the full 90 minutes as they put on a 5-star performance, grabbing all 3 points in a 5-0 win over Yeovil Town in the Vanarama National league.

Barnet set the tone from the first whistle, gaining possession of the ball and not letting it go without a fight.

An early attempt from Coker was one of many as he headed the ball towards the net but with no one able to get another touch on it, it was cleared away by the opposition.

Another attempt came from Kanu who attempted a low cross into the box, but again there was no one able to take the final touch to put it into the back of the net. The ball went out of play, resulting in a corner which bounced in the box and was dealt with by the visitors.

It was Coker again with the next chance with a cross across the box, but the ball finds the Yeovil defence who clear the ball away.

Glover came close to getting the Bees ahead with a dangerous shot at the goal but the ball flies just over the crossbar.

A scramble in the box came after a cross in was shot towards the goal but rebounded off the post. Glover took his chance and knocked the rebounding ball into the net.

Coker, Kanu, and Brunt all took their own chances to get a goal but were unsuccessful.

It was Stead who was able to double the lead and put the Bees two ahead, finding the ball from a low cross and striking it into the net.

The third for Barnet cam soon after when they were awarded a corner. It was taken short by Hartigan and curled into the top right corner.

Half time: 3 – 0

The team entered the second half still hunting for more goals. The first chance of the half came for Brunt in response to a long throw in by Glover, they ball was dealt with and the Bees looked for the next opportunity.

Barnet made their first two substitutions of the night with Telford and Chapman coming on in the place of Ndlovu and Brunt.

Soon after Clifford replaced goal scorer Glover on the pitch. Tavares and Kanu left the pitch left to make space for Grimwood and Cropper.

The Bee’s back line was tested by Yeovil but the defence cleared the ball away with ease.

Goal number 4 came from a penalty for the Bees, given after Telford was brought down. It was taken by substitution Chapman and the confidence of the team grew even more.

4 minutes later Barnet were awarded another penalty, this time taken by Telford how shot and sent the ball round the keeper easily.
