Match Report: Hayes & Yeading United 1-2 Bees

The Bees progressed into the next round of the Middlesex FA Senior Challenge Cup after winning 2-1 at Hayes & Yeading United.

After an even start to proceedings, it was the hosts who had the first attempt at goal when Omar Rowe picked up the ball in the centre of the park and threaded through Tyler Goodrham.

United’s No. 11 cut back inside and got away from Jordan Thomas before bending his shot over the top right corner.

The Bees managed to halt the Hayes & Yeading attacks over the next 10 minutes before having a chance of their own.

Sam Granville laid the ball off to debutant Ryan De Havilland who found space to let fly past the left post from distance.

Dean Brennan’s side had another chance to open the scoring when Rob Hall took the ball down the right side and was brought down by Jordan Norville-Williams.

The Bees’ No.7 took the resulting free-kick that he won and laid it off to De Havilland on the edge who struck the ball low towards goal before getting cleared away.

Serhat Tasdemir’s strike broke the deadlock in the 25th minute when he pounced on a loose pass from the hosts inside the final third.

The 21-year-old opened his body up to shoot into the bottom left corner, beyond the outstretched arms of Raven Constable.

Paul Hughes’ side almost levelled the score in the 37th minute when Tyler Goodrham beat Reiss Greenidge on the left flank before bringing the ball into the penalty area and forcing a reaction save from James Callan who parried over.

The hosts pushed to find an equaliser on the stroke of half-time when Hassan Jalloh cut back inside the box and lashed the ball towards the bottom left corner, before being denied by Sam Granville who threw himself in the way of the shot to clear off the line.

United were awarded a penalty midway through the second half when Josh Payne brought down an attacker from behind.

Substitute Jalloh stepped up for the spot kick and fired down the centre to level the score.

Minutes later Jalloh looked to turn provider as he whipped the ball into Norville-Williams who put his free header wide of the mark from the centre of the box.

In the 75th minute Dean Brennan’s side almost retook the lead when De Havilland spread the ball to Fonguck who cut back inside and drilled the ball into Constable’s gloves from outside of the box.

The Bees scored a second in the 84th minute when Callan delivered a deep free-kick into the box from the halfway line.

Mason Bloomfield rose highest to flick the ball into the net and past Constable who had charged off his line to claim.

Fonguck almost further extended the advantage shortly afterwards when he curled the ball narrowly past the far post from outside the box, but the Bees were made to settle for a 2-1 victory at The SkyEx Community Stadium.
