MATCH REPORT | FOREST GREEN ROVERS 0-0 BARNET FC | NATIONAL LEAGUE

The Bees were held to a goalless draw at promotion rivals Forest Green Rovers after goalkeeper heroics from Jed Ward denied the Bees a famous three points.

Forest Green had the first chance of the game when a corner was swung into the six-yard box, but the Bees got to the ball first to head clear.

The Bees had a half-chance of their own when Stead won a corner, again the defenders were on hand to clear.

Idris Kanu fizzed a ball towards goal which the hosts defence managed to get a foot on to scramble the ball away.

With half an hour played the Bees were starting to pile the pressure on the hosts. Danny Collinge let fly from range which was blocked before the rebound fell to another black and amber shirt in the box, this shot was well saved by Jed Ward.

Just two minutes later and another chance fell to Barnet. Callum Stead jumping highest from a free kick, but his bouncing header skimmed the crossbar.

Arguably the best chance of the half fell to debutant Lee Ndlovu who got on the end of a loose ball in the Forest Green box before directing the ball at goal but Ward made a fantastic stop to deny him.

Half Time 0-0

Just 30 seconds into the second half and Ward was called into action again, Stead with a shot from the left-hand side of the box was well tipped over.

Idris Kanu was next to have a go, he could only find the stand behind the goal as the ball flew over the bar.

Forest Greens first chance of note in the second half came when a shot from inside the box was somehow cleared off the line by the Bees defence before knocking the ball clear.

Stead made a promising run down the left-hand side, beating his man twice before firing at goal but his effort missed the mark.

There was to be no late drama this time around as the whistle blew for a goalless draw.
