Match Report: Crawley Town 0 – 3 Barnet

A strong second half performance by Barnet ensured that they recorded a 3-0 victory over struggling Crawley Town.
Elliott Johnson opened the scoring for the Bees with a well hit strike from distance just before the break.
John Akinde then continued his recent goal scoring run with a neat finish on 77 minutes, before making sure of the points with a late strike three minutes from time.
It was the home side who had the first chance of the match, when Jimmy Smith fired a free kick just wide of the left post on five minutes.
Bobson Bawling then picked up the ball on the right side of the box, before hitting a powerful shot just over the bar with 17 minutes on the clock.
It took until the 39th minute for Barnet to have their first clear chance of the match, but that opportunity resulted in a goal for the Bees.
Johnson received the ball on the edge of the box, before letting fly with a low drive that ended up in the bottom right corner of the Crawley Town net.
Barnet began the second half with more intensity, and debutant Nana Kyei saw his deflected shot just miss the target in the 48th minute.
A neat exchange between Michael Gash, Luke Gambin, and Wesley Fonguck ended with the young midfielder’s shot floating wide of the right post five minutes later.
Lee Barnard came close to an equaliser for Crawley when he fired a 76th minute shot just wide, but it was the Bees who doubled their lead a minute later.
Top scorer Akinde raced onto a through ball from Justin Nwogu, before chipping a shot past Crawley keeper Jack Rose for his 23rd of the season.
Bawling had a chance for the home side soon after Barnet’s second, but his long-range effort flashed wide of the left post.
The lively forward then forced a diving save from Jamie Stephens in the 87th as Crawley tried to find a way back into the game.
Barnet weren’t done though, and Akinde put the icing on an excellent second half performance with his second of the match – slotting home Stephens’ long ball over the top.

Martin Allen’s men finish the season with 62 points on the board, after a well deserved victory at Broadfield Stadium.
