MATCH REPORT | BOSTON UNITED

Barnet were reduced to 10 men at the Jakemans Community Stadium, but the Bees held on to secure a point from a 0-0 draw away to Boston United.

As the game went underway, tension was already flying around the ground, with both teams looking to gain an early advantage in the game.

But within the first ten minutes of the game, Barnet were creating the most chances, delivering the ball to the wide receivers as well as driving it down the middle.

Mark Shelton had the first opportunity on goal for the Bees, protecting the ball and pushing it towards the Pilgrims net.

However, the chance was quickly interrupted by the Boston defence, who cleared it away from the edge of the box.

Moments later Dylan Hill took on the first real attempt for the hosts, striking the ball towards goal from outside the box, but it carried too much height and flew over the bar.

The ball continued to reach both ends of the pitch but couldn’t find its way into the back of either sides net.

With half time fast approaching, Ryan Glover received the ball on the left side of the pitch, cutting inside and tried to curl it around the keeper but it went too wide and fell past the right post.

Moments later, Danny Collinge went to pass the ball towards a teammate, but caught Boston’s Oisin Gallagher, brining him to the floor.

The referee reached into his pocket and pulled out a red card, sending the Bees down to 10 men.

At the end of the forty-five, the referee extended the game by seven minutes.

Boston’s goalkeeper received the ball at his feet but was fought off the ball by Lee Ndlovu who slotted it into an open net.

However, the referee pulled it back for a foul, keeping the score level at the break.

Only fifteen minutes before the start of what looked to be a big second half for both teams.

Half-Time 0-0

As the ball was kicked for the start of the second half, pressure built almost immediately, but Barnet maintained a strong hold on the ball.

In the 50th minute, the Boston goalkeeper lost the ball at his feet once again, giving both Callum Stead and Lee Ndlovu to chance towards it.

Unfortunately, the keeper managed to rush out and clear it away in time, leading to a throw in for the Bees.

The hosts started to take having an extra player to their advantage, giving the Bees defence a real job on their hands in protecting the area.

Barnet were able to break free at times, launching the ball high and long for a counterattack, but kept getting pushed back by the Pilgrims.

The fans around the stadium roared for their teams, encouraging and pushing them to take that extra chance and make a difference to the game.

As the game entered the 80th minute, Dean Brennan made the decision to bring on Dom Telford, making his debut for the club and introducing him to the Bees fans.

Moments later Dom Telford already made an impact, finding himself on the edge of the box, ready for a strike.

He takes aim and powers it towards goal but it gets blocked, leading to a corner kick to Barnet.

With minutes remaining on the match, things started to look serious.

Boston kept on pushing and pushing at the Barnet defence, trying to break through in the final moments.

But the Barnet boys stood strong, every player stayed back to hold the line, making sure Owen Evans and his goal was safe.

As time went on the ball was cleared back up the field, to which then the referee blew the whistle for full-time.

With strong mentality and pure character, Barnet were able to take home a point from a hard-fought match against the Pilgrims.
