MATCH REPORT | BARNET FC 2-0 WOKING FC | NATIONAL LEAGUE

The Bees mastered a dominant win over Woking FC at The Hive, battling through tough weather conditions to take the three points.

An early chance for the visitors fell to Tom Leahy when he jumped highest from a Jack Stretton cross from the right-hand side.

The visitors early pressure was building, and they came close again when a Dale Gorman corner was eventually headed onto the crossbar by Dion Kelly-Evans.

Matt Ward was next to try his luck for Woking, his shot on the half-volley from the edge of the box flew high over the bar.

Despite the early chances from Woking, it was the Bees who struck the back of the net first. Rhys Browne got the Bees a free kick on the edge of the box when he was fouled, Hartigan stepped up, but his effort struck the wall but only into the path of Browne who slotted the ball past Will Jaaskelainen.

Ade Oluwo had the cheers of the crowd when he slid in on Ward from inside the box to deny the Woking winger who was charging through on goal.

Half Time 1-0

Barnet started the second half brightly and were unlucky to have not got a second goal when a corner from Hartigan was met by the jumping Tavares, but his header whistled over the crossbar.

The pressure was mounting, and it came to nobody’s shock when Bailey Hobson made it two when he got on the end of a Browne ball before shooting at goal from inside the box which was originally saved by Jaaskelainen, but Hobson was there again to steer over the rebound.

Substitute Zak Brunt was looking lively just minutes after he came on when he had two left-footed shots from inside the box, both going wide of the right-hand post.

In a dominant second half performance from Barnet the number of chances Brennan’s side were creating was increasing with every minute played. Myles Kenlock saw a shot blocked in the box on the 80th minute mark.

Bailey Hobson was causing more problems for the visitors when he curled a shot at goal with his left-foot, the Woking defence scrambled the ball past the post to deny the Bees third.

The final chance of the game fell to Jordan Cropper who’s shot at goal from inside the box was also blocked wide for a corner.

The Bees registered another home win and stay third in the Vanarama National League just one point off the top.
