MATCH REPORT | BARNET ACADEMY 5-1 CHATHAM TOWN U18s

It was a five-star performance for Barnet U18s in this FA Youth Cup 1st Round clash against Chatham Town at The Hive on Thursday evening.

Strikes from Mitch Issot, Aiden Waugh, Micah Macarthy, Matteo Brown and Leo Rix wrapped up a memorable evening for our Young Bees.

Under the lights in North London, it was Barnet who started bright and on 5 minutes would take the lead.

Some nice work from Chinoso Achodor eventually finding Issott who smashed home the opener.

However, just three minutes later and our visitors would be level.

Lync Henry meeting a deep cross at the far post, who converted.

But the Young Bees would find their groove and just five minutes after the equaliser would restore their lead – Waugh this time getting on the scoresheet with a neat finish.

Chances would continue coming, with Barnet’s third of the night coming on 31 minutes – a mazy run from Achodor eventually pulling the ball back to Macarthy who hammered home the third.

And on the stroke of half time Brown would latch onto a fine ball and rifles the ball into the roof of the net, making it four.

HALF TIME 4-1

Following the interval, Barnet would again start bright – Achodor again forcing Ray inito action, before Jayden West fired over for Chatham.

Barnet’s fifth of the evening would arrive on 58 minutes, a set-piece eventually falling to Rix who guided the ball home from the edge of the box.

The Young Bees would have to dig in deep through with Anthony Haralambous called into action multiple times to deny the visitors.

Barnet are now through to the 2nd round of the FA Youth Cup and will await their opponents.
